You will be picked up at the airport and transported to a five star hotel, which will serve as your home for the next three nights. A welcome reception and dinner will be held that evening, which will be a great opportunity for you to meet fellow tour participants and your guides for the week. |
Monday, June 1, 2009 – Shanghai |

The day will begin with a meeting with senior executives from a multinational company who will share how they approach employee benefits and risk management as part of doing business in China. This meeting will include discussion of the newly published China Employment Law. The tour will then visit a business park and meet the park authority who will explain the incentive programs for tenant companies, describe the business operation environment in China and identify risk issues and how to avoid them. Finish off the day with a group dinner and shopping excursion.

Today’s activities will focus specifically on China’s insurance industry. You will visit a state-owned insurance company, as well as a multi-national insurance company to learn how these companies operate, barriers to entry and how to effectively compete in the Chinese marketplace. A group dinner follows, along with a special city nightlife tour.

The morning will start with a breakfast roundtable discussion with Chinese third party administrators and insurance company executives. One-on-one sessions with Chinese consulting firms will then be scheduled where you will have the opportunity to engage in private, self-directed discussions on business issues ranging from employee risk management to insurance practice to labor law compliance. That evening you will have dinner at the airport and then catch a short flight to your next stop…Beijing!

Your day will begin will by participating in a meeting with policy-makers of key government agencies dealing with insurance and employee benefits. You will then meet with representatives of a leading Chinese insurance association to gain additional perspective on public-private sector interaction and market entry strategies. The group will have a special dinner at a famous Chinese restaurant where Beijing Roasted Duck is a featured menu item.

This will be a “fun” day, starting with a tour of one of the greatest wonders of the world…the Great Wall of China. After spending some time at the Great Wall, you will be taken on an afternoon tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, including a cultural show at Laoshe Teahouse where you will enjoy Chinese cuisine, tea and folk shows.

It’s time to pack your bags and be transported to the airport for your flight home. Note: Due to a twelve hour time difference, return flights will gain a day’s flying time. (You will leave and arrive the same day.)
